At Bodegas Solana de Ramírez, we know how important a globalized world is today, so this year we’ve put our backs into action and are implementing an export program to showcase our wines around the world and ensure they are represented in more countries.
This year, we were fortunate enough to participate in Prowein and will be showcasing our wines at the Messe Düsseldorf complex in Hall 13 of La Rioja, specifically at stand 13A100-13.
What is Prowein?
ProWein is the world’s leading international wine and spirits fair, bringing together the world’s leading importers each year, along with the best wines from the world and Rioja.
The fair brings together international market leaders such as importers and exporters, trade agencies, select winegrowers, and wine-growing regions from major wine-producing nations. This year, 2022, it will feature more than 5,500 exhibitors from over 60 countries presenting their wines, spirits, and artisanal beverages.
Where is it held?
The fair will be held from May 15th to 17th, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Messe Düsseldorf exhibition center.
The exhibition center covers a total area of approximately 307,000 m² with 19 halls totaling 264,000 m², each with 4,000 to 24,000 m² of exhibition space, as well as state-of-the-art facilities, nearly 50,000 m² of outdoor space, and a variety of restaurants.
What wines do we present?
In this edition, our winery will be presenting our wines under the brands Solana de Ramirez, Capricho de Valvanera, Valsarte, and especially Pezón Negro.
The latter is a very special new project from the winery, which we launched in 2019. This wine, presented in this edition, comes from a century-old vineyard where all work is carried out sustainably and manually. We then harvest selected grapes in small boxes, keep the grapes refrigerated for subsequent hand-stemming at the ideal time, and produce them in the winery using a completely natural and manual process. We’d love for you to stop by our stand and try it!
Tasting with Pedro Ballesteros
This year, our winery will be participating in talks organized by the Regulatory Council of the DO Calificada Rioja. Specifically, we will be participating in the “Great Vintages of Rioja” talk on May 16th at 12:00 pm with our Valsarte Reserva 2011 wine, which won a Bronze Medal in Bordeaux at the Challenge International du Vin.
Our wine will be tasted by Pedro Ballesteros, the first Spaniard to earn the title of Master of Wine. The Master of Wine (Maestro del Vino, or MW) designation is considered in the wine industry to be one of the highest recognitions for those possessing extensive knowledge of everything related to this beverage: culture, business, production, and more.
We’re very proud that one of the world’s best tasters can taste our wine. Of course, we’ll keep you updated on our experiences after the fair.
