Bodegas Solana de Ramírez a unique Open Day 2025
The XXVIII Ábalos 2025 Open Doors Day will take place on September 6. And from Bodegas Solana de Ramírez we want to live with you a unique experience giving voice to one of the most special days of our town in which this year we will also celebrate with you a very special date.
The Women’s Association of Ábalos
It is the Women’s Association of Ábalos who organizes the whole day and who gives voice to the village, the wineries, the cultural heritage of Ábalos and its surroundings.
Open Day Activities
It is a day to spend with the family and not to miss any of the activities.
- Visits to the Garrido and Casa Mari Cruz museums, San Esteban Church and the 17th Century Winery.
- Tourist train, it stops at the wineries and it is very easy to tour the village with the youngest members of the family. From 11:00h.
- On the cultural side, there will be a projection of the “Lagares excavated in rock in the Sonsierra Riojana” by Salvador Velilla. For those who do not know what a wine press is and how they worked, it is a perfect opportunity to learn about them and see a traditional treading in situ in one of them.
- In addition, we have an introductory tasting workshop led by Pedro Salguero at the town hall and tastings with musical ambience in the park. At 11:30h and 12:30h.
- There will also be a traditional and artisan food market and a food truck to fill the stomachs of those who are careless and do not take a sandwich.
- That music is something fundamental when we talk about wine is undeniable, and for this we have the batukada Tarumba percussion that at 7 pm touring the town.
- As a novelty we have the tuna that come to liven up the morning with their songs and jokes.
40th anniversary of Bodegas Solana de Ramírez
2025 is also the year in which Bodegas Solana de Ramírez Ruiz S.A.T. as an entity celebrates its 40th anniversary since its foundation. As you can appreciate this is a very special date that we do not want to go unnoticed.
It was in 1985 when Vicente, Romualdo and Javier, together with their parents Pilar and Vicente decided to embark on the adventure of branding the wine they had been making all their lives. Therefore, they founded the winery and went from selling wine in bulk or in demijohns to selling it bottled with our brands. Today, the three brothers continue working and fighting for their dream together with their whole family, special mention to Valvanera and Javier together with Martha, Merche, Alicia, Álvaro and Viki. Currently we continue to produce wines under the brand name “Solana de Ramírez” for the young wines and also under the brand name “Valsarte” for our crianza, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva aged wines. Later, they ventured into other adventures, creating new brands such as “Capricho de Valvanera” for our semi-sweet white wine that has its origin, of course, in the persistence of Valvanera to his father Javier to make it and our latest addition as a brand “Pezón Negro” which is used for our 100% Garnacha centenary wine, a very top wine that is made in specific years and in a very special way.
This year 2025 is also the centenary of the DOCa Rioja, being the oldest wine appellation of origin in Spain, so there is no better date to celebrate it.
