Solana de Ramírez Blanco, best DOCa Rioja white wine quality/price by Tim Atkin
At Solana de Ramírez Winery, we believe that good work from the vineyard to the winery is rewarded. This is why we have won the award for best DOCa Rioja white wine for two consecutive years with Solana de Ramírez Blanco, awarded by renowned Master of Wine Tim Atkin.
Solana de Ramírez has a long history of white winemaking. Javier Ramírez de la Piscina and his brothers Romualdo and Vicente have been producing quality red wines (young, aged, and reserve wines) their entire lives. They began producing Solana de Ramírez white wine in 2010.
Initially, a 100% Viura wine was made and now it has evolved into a wine that is a blend of four different varieties:
- Viura/Malvasia 85%.
- Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo 15%.
Since the DOCa Rioja approved the planting and use of different white grape varieties for the production of different white wines in 2007, Solana de Ramírez has opted to use them to enhance traditional Rioja varieties such as Viura.
Now all that work has its reward, the first of which is because we are a winery recognized for our white wines:
- Solana de Ramírez.
- Capricho de Valvanera.
- Barrel-fermented white Valsarte.
The second is the international awards we received, such as the silver medal at the Decantes International Wine Awards and also the aforementioned Tim Atkin Award.
Don’t miss out on trying our white wine!
