On Saturday, September 2nd, we look forward to seeing you all in Ábalos, La Rioja, to enjoy the 26th Ábalos Open Day organized by the Women’s Association of our town. This event is open to all audiences and offers a chance to learn about the culture of wine and the history of Ábalos and La Rioja. A day full of activities that will leave you speechless.
The event begins at 11:00 a.m. in the Town Hall Square, where you can purchase drinks and a ham sandwich to recharge your batteries.
- A tourist train is available that tours the Abalos wineries (departing from the plaza and the wineries).
- Entertainment will be provided through the streets and wineries by “Charanga Najerilla” and “Grupo de Danzas de Briones.”
- Grape treading in a rock-cut wine press at 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Presentation and screening of “Rock-Cut Wine Presses in the Sonsierra Riojana” at the Chaparro Press.
- Tastings with live music in the park from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Batukada (Battle of the Batukada) departing from the plaza at 7:00 p.m.
Bodegas Solana de Ramirez has participated in every Open Day, and is one of the pioneering and longest-standing wineries at the event. At our winery, you can visit the winery’s production area, the tanks, and the barrel cellar where our wines are aged. The Solana de Ramirez family will be waiting for you at the bar, happy to serve you our Solana de Ramirez Joven, White, and Rosé wines, and our 2019 Crianza Valsarte. Our shop will also be open to purchase our limited-edition wines, such as Pezón Negro, and our latest release, Valsarte Blanco Fermented in Barrel.
This year, our winery will also feature several surprises, including a raffle for all visitors to win a wonderful batch of wines.
