Hello friends, today we want to share with you the good news regarding wine competitions we’ve received this year. We’re very happy that the work we’ve put into making great wines throughout the year has been recognized.
Decanter World Wine Awards 2022
90 Points – Silver Medal “Valsarte Crianza 2019”
95 Points – Gold Medal “Black Nipple 2019”
Now in its 19th year, the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) are the world’s largest and most influential wine competition, with an unparalleled global reach. This 2022 edition featured 18,244 wines from 54 countries (a record number of wines tasted to date), judged by some 250 international wine experts, including 41 Masters of Wine and 13 Master Sommeliers.
Interestingly, only 92 wines from Spain have won a gold medal, of which only 24 are from Rioja. Among them is our wine “Pezón Negro 2019,” which is made with 100-year-old 100% Garnacha grapes. We keep them refrigerated after harvesting and destem them by hand to use only the best grapes. Furthermore, we don’t use any machinery during the production process (punching, hand-pressing, gravity racking, etc.).
You can buy our 2019 Pezón Negro wine in our online store, and the 2019 Valsarte Crianza is not yet available for purchase, but it will be soon.
32nd La Rioja Vintage Wine Competition 2022
Silver Medal – Blanco Solana de Ramirez 2021
The Caja Rioja Foundation and Caixabank created this competition on September 15, 1991, to promote the wines of La Rioja. Only young wines from the year’s harvest can be entered in three categories: Joven, Rosé, and White. A total of 98 samples from 41 wineries were received for this 2022 edition, of which 38 were in the red wine category, 34 in white, and 26 in rosé and/or claret.
Our Solana de Ramirez 2021 White Wine was one of the winners, earning a silver medal and a diploma and beautiful trophy in recognition.
