Our Vineyards
At Bodegas Solana de Ramirez we know that a good wine is born from a careful care of the vineyards. For this reason, we carefully carry out all the work, respecting nature to the maximum and thus obtaining healthy, high quality grapes.
Our Most Singular Vineyards
We cultivate 60 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Ábalos and San Vicente de la Sonsierra (Rioja Alta); Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha, Viura, Malvasía, Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo.
These are located from north to south from the foot of the Sierra Cantabria mountain range to the vicinity of the Ebro river, with altitudes of between 454 and 758 metres. The soil is calcareous clay which, together with the existing microclimate influenced by the Cantabrian and Mediterranean air currents, makes this area ideal for producing wines of excellent quality.
The grape harvest
Harvesting at Abalos usually takes place at the beginning of October, although these dates may vary depending on weather conditions. In our winery we harvest by hand in most of our vineyards and the grapes are immediately transferred to the winery, so that they enter the winery preserving as much of their properties and freshness as possible.
